This season the ECNL will feature the college corner, a section highlighting standout ECNL alums who were named Players of the Week from their respective NCAA Division 1 conferences around the country. This week features four players who were outstanding on the field for their college teams.

 

Girls

Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

Trinity Byars – Texas

ECNL Club – Solar SC

Byars won her second straight Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award, after scoring a brace in the Longhorns 2-0 win over Texas Tech. The sophomore scored in both the fifth and 55th minutes of the game, registering her third multi-goal performance of the season. Byars is ranked first in the Big 12 and third nationally with 10 goals. During her time in the ECNL, Byars helped lead Solar SC to the U15 ECNL National Final in 2017.

 

CAA Offensive Player of the Week

Ivey Crain – William & Mary

ECNL Club – Atlanta Fire

Crain adds Offensive Player of the Week honors to two Rookie nods in 2022 after helping William & Mary earn four points in the first weekend of CAA play. The freshman from Georgia scored in W&Mโ€™s draw at Stony Brook on Thursday, before a brace on Sunday provided all the offense in a 2-0 win over defending CAA Champion Hofstra in Hempstead. While in the ECNL, Crain earned ECNL All Southeast Conference First Team honors in the 2021-22 season while playing for Atlanta Fire.

 

Boys

SoCon Defensive Player of the Week

Sekou Agard – Mercer

ECNL Club – GSA

Agard scored one goal and tallied one assist in Mercer’s two contests last week as the Bears went 1-0-1, earning a 3-2 victory over UAB on Tuesday and playing to a 2-2 draw against North Florida on Saturday. Against the Blazers, Agard assisted on Mercerโ€™s first goal of the game. In the tie against the Ospreys, the sophomore connected with a corner kick in the 54th minute to head in his first goal of the season and hand Mercer a 2-1 lead. While in the ECNL, Agard helped GSA advance to the ECNL Boys National Finals in 2019.

 

Patriot League Rookie of the Week

Troy Elgersma – American

ECNL Club – Pateadores

Elgersma recorded the assist on the Eaglesโ€™ game-winning goal in the 73rd minute to secure a 2-1 comeback win over Bucknell. During his time in the ECNL, Elgersma was part of the U18/19 Pateadores team that won the ECNL Boys North American Cup in 2022.
