This season the ECNL will feature the college corner, a section highlighting standout ECNL alums who were named Players of the Week from their respective NCAA Division 1 conferences around the country. This week features four players who were outstanding on the field for their college teams.
Girls
ACC Defensive Player of the Week
Caitlyn Lazzarini – Pittsburgh
ECNL Club – PDA
Lazzarini totaled five saves and preserved the shutout on Thursday against Clemson to help clinch Pitt’s first-ever trip to the ACC Women’s Soccer Championship. The Nazareth, Pennsylvania native recorded three saves in each half, as she notched her sixth clean sheet of the season. During her time in the ECNL, Lazzarini played for PDA.

Big East Goalkeeper of the Week
Kaitlyn Mahoney – Connecticut
ECNL Club – SUSA FC
Mahoney made three saves last week in a 4-0 victory for the Huskies over Seton Hall. The junior goalkeeper faced three shots on goal and saved all of them. The win marked Mahoney’s fifth shutout of the season and her third consecutive one in conference play. She currently ranks third in the league in save percentage (.836) and ranks fourth in saves (51) and saves per game (3.92). While in the ECNL, Mahoney was a team captain for SUSA FC.

Big West Offensive Player of the Week
Noah Lopez – UC Riverside
ECNL Club – Legends FC
UC Riverside sophomore forward Noah Lopez tallied one goal and one assist to earn The Big West Offensive Player of the Week honor. The Highland, Calif. product is a first-time Big West weekly honoree. With The Big West regular season title on the line, Lopez recorded his fifth goal and fifth assist on the year in Saturday’s 4-1 win over UC Santa Barbara. With the win, UC Riverside earned its first-ever regular season title in a single-division format and No. 1 seed in The Big West Championship. Lopez now has 15 points on the season, fifth most overall in the conference. During his time in the ECNL, Lopez was named to the Southwest All Conference First Team for Legends FC during the 2020-21 season.
