This season the ECNL will feature the college corner, a section highlighting standout ECNL alums who were named Players of the Week from their respective NCAA Division 1 conferences around the country. This week features four players who were outstanding on the field for their college teams.



SEC Offensive Player of the Week

Maile Hayes – Texas A&M

ECNL Club – Challenge SC

Maile Hayes battled through two defenders to punch in an 87th-minute game-winner at No. 20 Ole Miss on Sunday. She also assisted on the Aggies’ first goal in the 2-1 victory over the Rebels. Hayes also scored the icebreaker in A&M’s 2-2 tie against LSU on Thursday. She tallied two goals and an assist on the week. During her time in the ECNL, Hayes played for Challenge SC and in 2017 was named the ECNL Texas Conference Player of the Year.


American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week

Paige Miller – Cincinnati

ECNL Club – FC Pride

Miller scored three goals in two matches last week. The sophomore scored the opening goal in a 1-1 draw at Tulsa on Thursday night before scoring a brace in the Bearcats’ 3-1 win over Temple on Sunday. While in the ECNL, Miller played for FC Pride and was named to the U19 Ohio Valley 2nd Team All-Conference in 2021.



Big South Freshman of the Week

Gareth Shaw – Winthrop

ECNL Club – Albion Hurricanes FC

Shaw started his first collegiate appearance on Saturday and recorded a shutout with a 1-0 victory over Longwood.Β  He made four saves — including a penalty kick stop plus the ensuing rebound attempt from six yards out to preserve the Eagles’ 1-0 advantage. While in the ECNL, Shaw played for Albion Hurricanes FC.


MAAC Rookie of the Week

Ethan Glaser – Mount St. Mary’s

ECNL Club – Baltimore Celtic SC

Glaser earned three points on the week, helping the Mount achieve four points with a victory over Saint Peter’s and a draw with Niagara. He assisted on Kofi Amoah’s score in the second half against the Peacocks and scored the opening goal to pull level with the Purple Eagles. He leads all Mount rookies and is third on the team with seven points (2 goals, 3 assists). During his time in the ECNL, Glaser played for Baltimore Celtic SC and was named to the 2020 ECNL All-Conference Team.
